@MiLB has announced they will air Max Scherzer’s first rehab start for free.

Scherzer is scheduled to start tonight for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (AA) at Mirabito Stadium against the Reading Fightin Phils.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.

Scherzer will throwing to Mets Catcher James McCann who has also been on a rehab assignment with Binghamton since last week. Mets manager Buck Showalter said the goal is for Scherzer to throw between 45-60 pitches tonight.

“We trust him, but you know Max, he will be competitive,” Showalter told the media. “It’s not like he will just be going through the motions.”
