Indianapolis Colts president Bill Polian made a reckless business decision this past summer when he re-signed Peyton Manning to a five-year, $90 million deal. While his commitment to retaining Manning was received by overwhelming fan support, sans a physical, the decision could cost the Colts long-term.
One of my responsibilities at my first radio job was to check and clear the Associated Press news wire once an hour throughout the night. This meant walking through a narrow corridor, past rolling reel-to-reel machines, ripping the roles of dot matrix paper off the feeder and tearing it into categories. When the AM news team arrived they could sift through local and national news, sports and weather quickly and find what they needed for the first newscast of the morning.
